This post is going to be solely about embracing yourself. Since I was a small child, I have been bullied. Society today is negatively biased towards those of us who are different and rebel against the norm. I am one of those rebels and always will be. I believe in originality, for I think it gets people far in life. I like to see things with an open mind.
As I have grown up, I have realized that you must rise against the negativity in your life. Katy Perry taught me that with her song Firework. When I first heard it, I thought that it was quite a waste of my time, but when I read the lyrics, I realized the song had an actual meaning. In order to overcome your fears and insecurities, you have to let your colors burst and show everyone what you're worth.
You may be surprised by how they react to you. When I showed my true colors and realized that I am actually a cool person, I made friends who thought the same. Trust me, before anyone else can like you, you have got to like yourself. That is the first step. If you are different from everyone else, embrace it. No one is the same, and no one is perfect.
When
I sat and thought about my life, the one aspect of it that immediately
came to mind is the mistakes I made and how I regretted them. No one
likes to regret anything, but it’s a part of growing up. At the time I
was in a somber state of mind and decided to listen to some music.
Little did I know that when I would sit there and listen to my playlist
that the song Remember Everything by Five Finger Death Punch would begin to play. Just the tune of the song set the mood, but the lyrics made the feeling of regret come alive.
There are many things in my life I’ve done that I wish I hadn’t. If there was a time machine, I’d be using it on a daily basis. Remember Everything is
exactly about that. I can honestly say I have failed to meet the
expectations of so many important people in my life, and I’m sorry for
that. The only thing I can do is listen to this song and hope for
forgiveness. Music is my basic escape when I’m feeling under the weather
or if I feel angry. To be completely honest, this song made me feel
better, and made me realize I’m not the only person who makes mistakes
and has regrets. In all, it’s medicine for your emotions.
